Robert Tantular is Conditional Free, From 21 Years to 10 Years of Detention, This is the KPK's Reaction
Poros Pos. The Corruption Border Commission (KPK) questioned Robert Tantular's conditional freedom from prison. The former boss of Century Bank is known to only be in prison for 10 years which originally had to be 21 years old.
"So if suddenly he is sentenced to how many years actually, 21 years, and he only goes through half, even then 10 more years huh. Yes, please ask the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, "said Deputy Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Laode M Syarif in his office, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday (12/19/2018).
Robert Tantular, who is also a former majority shareholder of Bank Century, is known to have not occupied his cell in the Cipinang Class 1 Lapas area since July 2018 due to conditional release. Robert's total sentence is actually 21 years since 2008.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also considered giving remissions and parole from the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen Pas) too loose. Supposedly, for the KPK, the privilege - even though it has been regulated by law - must still be considered well and strictly for prisoners - prisoners with special crimes such as this.
"We ask the Directorate General of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, not that we want revenge, but that for example prisoners of violence against children and women, corruption, terrorism, or drugs must be very strict," Syarif said.
"It's useless if you have been punished by a 10-year court, but for August 17 (remission), Christmas can be, Lebaran can, Galungan can. Yes, for religion alone there are a lot of things and parole, "Syarif added.
Previously, the Head of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Pas Pas Ade Kusmanto also confirmed the news that Robert Tantular was free even on a conditional basis. However, Ade has not yet provided detailed information about the problem.
"Right (Robert Tantular) parole," Ade said.
This should certainly be of concern to the parties, including the community, the government should be more selective in giving remissions to prisoners, especially with severe cases like this. Because it is not impossible if the corruptors are left free from prison even on condition, the community no longer believes in law enforcement in Indonesia.
